My Grief Angel

My Grief Angel sat down and

tapped me on the shoulder

So I looked up

"Why do you weep?" she asked

I replied "I weep because I'm fed up with life"

She said, "The world is not so bad

Take a moment to look around at all the good you've done

You think your life is over

But it's only just begun"

But I tried so hard and it's all in vain

I cannot stop the wars, pollution or the acid rain

My family is falling apart before my very eyes

Years spent weaving through a loving disguise

"Yes" She said. "This is very true

You have done your best and for a time it will be undone

But time also heals and love will prevail

A light from heaven will come"

I mused for a time on her words

Feeling the weight of the world slip slowly off my shoulders

Tears of joy spilled over my cheeks

As I leaned over to gently hold her
