You Came as an Angel

You came as an Angel, from deep in my womb,
A son born from heaven, my spirit to consume.
You grew up tall and strong as a boy,
Little time you had to play with your toys.

A mother confused in her life's long quest,
Became disarrayed from doing her best.
You held on strong seeing me through,
As many a night, your strength I withdrew.

Many lonely hours I put you through,
Wondering, waiting, and praying some too.
A boy made a man so early in life,
To care for a mother with so much strife.

Those years unpleasant to think upon today,
But your steadfastness paid in every way.
A mother stands tall because of your presence,
Knowing God gave her a son of spiritual essence.

This heart shall sing until time stands still,
Of her love for a son, her heart does thrill.
Until the Angels in glory sing out your name,
When I take your hand, with heaven we'll gain.
